You could do that with custom fields feature that UM offers. ??

Thanks for the quick response! Is there an example of how to do this? I tried the custom fields feature, but I couldn’t figure how to configure it for categories.

You wouldn’t be able to pre-filter the users by the custom field.

But you can create a multi-select field, add choices then add this field to search filters so a user can filter directory by category when performing a search.

Go to WP Admin, Ultimate Member, Member Directories. Click Edit. Configure the directory as you would like it to appear (e.g., which fields should appear when a user is selected). Toward the bottom, there is a section called Search Options. That is where you may add search fields.

Thanks. I also noticed that I can sort users by ‘custom field’. I have added a custom field but I do not know what to fill out as Meta Key. Please help me out.

The meta key will be shown on the screen when you go to edit the field for whichever form(s) on which the custom field appears. It will also be evident in your database user meta table.
