I have just installed the Duplicator plug-in and when running a default scan during step 2 of creating a package I keep getting a Server status: 504 Gateway timeout error.
I have increased PHP memory limit to 256M.
I even tried excluding the directory containing all of the images.
It hasn’t been a good start to using the plug-in.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hey Clemmo,

How long does the scanner run before you get the 500 error? Have you seen the timeout time to be consistent with each try? You may try to exclude the root directory just to make sure its not an issue with your host. If that still give you issues, go ahead and submit a support ticket with a link to this thread and I can help take a look when I get some time…

    Hope that helps!

I am having the same sort of issue, it is progressing but then it just stops and says I need to remover wp-config which is only in there because the plugin created it as it was processing, so it is making a new wp-config.php file and telling me to delete it, it is a big loop, can you help please.

    Thanks

If the plugin has already done a full extraction (unzip) of the files, you can check the ‘Manual Extraction’ option on step 1 of the installer under advanced options. This will prevent that message from showing and prevent the installer from trying to extract the archive file again…

Hi Cory I manual Extraction worked but everything works as it should (links, dashboard, images, etc) but the only thing that does not work is the CUSTOMIZE page within the dashboard, I just get a 404 Page Not Found error, any ideas?

You might try and view source on the page and trace the link address, most likely that one particular item didn’t get updated… Is that feature part of a plugin or part of the WordPress Core install?

I’ve used Duplicator successfully for about a year now to backup my site,
My host has remained the same with the same timeout parameters. My site has not been modified. Recently, I installed the Duplicator Update V1.1.4. Since then, I can complete the scan, but the build of the archive always times out. I’d like to make some revisions to the site but without knowing I have a complete working Backup of the site as it currently stands, I’m afraid to do so. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround? any help would be appreciated.

    Hey Unique,

It may be a timeout issue. What is the size of your archive file? You can always try the ‘Manual Extraction’ mode described above…

    Hope that helps!

    The archive is 230 mb

When i reviewed the package log there is a list of every file in the website preceded by a warning.

    eg;
WARNING: Unable to zip directory: ‘/hermes/bosnaweb07a/b1404/nf.ethniciteezcom/public_html/turnerfirst/wp-content/plugins/LayerSlider/static/codemirror’/hermes/bosnaweb07a/b1404/nf.ethniciteezcom/public_html/turnerfirst

I have my shared hosting which contains large amount of data like (11 Gb)
when i tried to take backups always scan failed if scan done then with warning in archive section size (11 Gb).
what should i do to take backups only of my site which is less than 200 mb.

it is taking whole data of this shared domain .
how to take only wordpress backup.

    plz assist me asap

    thanks in advance..

    Hey Imranwpking,

11GB will not work with this plugin that is too large unfortunately. However you can get the overall size down by create directory filters and then manually moving over the larger files.

    Cheers~
