MailChimp for WordPress widget

    Please help me.

    I have just installed MailChimp for WordPress (as a trail to see if I want to upgrade later), and added my API key, it says it has connected, but it doesn’t seem to work.

    It asks for a Akismet API key. I am already using the free version of Akismet. I have tried going to their website and it asks to register and pay a monthly fee. Do I need to purchase an Akismet API Key to get MailChimp to work?

    I would like to see what it looks like and how it works before paying.

    Any advise you can give me would be most welcome.
