    Hi,

When I try logging in to WordPress or visiting my site (www.shikhagupta.com) hosted on WordPress, I get this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/31/5512131/html/wp-content/plugins/portfolio-slideshow/lib/Plugin.php on line 3

Since I can’t log in, I can’t fix the problem. Please help.

    Thanks,
    Shikha

  • I have never had a problem with that plugin, but here is its support forum:

For now, you should be able to go to cPanel > File Manager or whatever else you might use and temporarily rename the folder for that plugin to deactivate it.

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for this. But like I said, I can’t log in to WordPress either. Therefore unable to deactivate the Plugin. I’m desperate for help here as I’ve sent out the link to my portfolio to potential employers and now they can’t access it. Any other ideas?

You should be able to go to cPanel > File Manager or whatever else you might use to access your WordPress installation at server level and temporarily rename the folder for that plugin to deactivate it.

I am having the exact same problem i can’t even log in to my WordPress site (www.ckcc.org.au)

If anyone can help me to get to my log in page for WordPress would be great!

When i click on “log in” it comes back with

“Too many redirects occurred trying to open https://www.ckcc.org.au/wp-login.php. This might occur when you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.

Thanks Lee. Tried doing that on Godaddy but my file manager shows zero files. I guess I’ll have to take this to them.

Problem solved. I couldn’t do it myself, but the Godaddy tech team managed to sort it out for me.

    Thanks for your help.

Good deal. Support Techs at hosts are not typically required to be proficient in WordPress, but I have had at least some similar experiences at my own host. Only one or twice have I ever had to tell a Support Tech something like “Oh no, we are *not* going to try that!”
