wordpress 4.3 site icon/identity not showing on iOS and firefox

    Hello,

    just installed wordpress 4.3, and tried the new site icon feature.

    on computer, it works fine on Safari, Chrome, but not Firefox.

    on mobile, it works fine on Android (Chrome, Firefox, add to home screen);

    but it doesn’t show on iOS safari (in safari tab/bookmark and add to home screen).

    Ive check my homepage, it includes:

    <link rel="icon" href="https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/cropped-logo-32x32.png" sizes="32x32" />
<link rel="icon" href="https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/cropped-logo-192x192.png" sizes="192x192" />
<link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" href="https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/cropped-logo-180x180.png">
<meta name="msapplication-TileImage" content="https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/cropped-logo-270x270.png">

    I’ve replaced my site url with example.com.

    browser cache is cleared for testing as well. site icon was uploaded with new filename, so should not have cache issue?

    Hi, i sorted it out myself.

    It turns out that i blocked the direct link to png file.

    I have this problem as well, but have not found the solution. I am curious as to what was your exact solution? You blocking it because of some htaccess code? Thanks for the help.

    yes, i blocked direct linking to my png and other image file for the hotlink protection purpose.
    You can remove it in your .htaccess file or in your cpanel if your have that option.

    I had the same hotlink protection on my website too. I removed it, but it didn’t fix the problem. Thanks for the help.

    Same problem here. In some cases the site icon is showing up, in others not. On my iPad or in Internet Explorer I have no Icon. With Firefox or on my Windows Phone it works.
