in fact several in one post.

    1. I want a ‘page’ to be redirected to a URL on my domain. How do I or even can I do this?
So the page link says “Page1” and I click it and I want it to go to https://www.domain.blah\whatever

    2. In the user registration section what functionality do I need to be able to send registration emails? Do I need smtp support or can I use a 3rd party (if so any sugegstions?)?

    3. Oh yes – currently I’m doing all my setup off line using xammp –
    a. what things do I need to copy (theme / plugins a given) to my online version?
    b. xammp uses no security, so what other caveats should I be aware of?

    I think that’s it for now ??

  • 1. Redirectify plugin

    2. Nothing. WP does it. If not – it’s your server. Then search for a plugin that replaces the missing mail() function.

    3. a. It depends what are you developing locally. Theme? Then only the theme. Content? – then the DB
    b. that question doesn’t make sense.

    1. Thanks, will go look this one up

    2. Sorry but I don’t understand the reply. If I setup a new user, the authentication eMail does not arrive I am therefore presuming that I need to enter something into the mail settings – yes / no? Or have I totally missed the point?

    3. It is just content. So when I copy the database up, then all my local settings should be replicated?

3b. Well ignore me then ??

Perhaps I should clarify number 1 as well.

Not only do I want this other page to show up, I’d like for it to be “contained” withing the overall wordpress theme – is this still possible?

I’m resolving this – though none of the answers helped me – as I guess it has slipped off the radar.
