Every time I try to click on plugins or updates ( plugins or themes ) or settings..( basically any backroom editing of the site itself… It takes me to my website and says page not found. Im not trying to go to my website. Im trying to update things in the wp admin site. I never had this problem before. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

  • Hi NomadNattie,

Could you please provide a link to your site?

    Thanks!

    Sure.

The site itself seems to be working fine. Its just that trying to do things in the admin panel it says “Sorry, but the page you were trying to view does not exist.” And it goes to my actual website saying that ( not to any page I actually have ). So its acting like im trying to go to a wrong link on my website or something when im not even trying to go on the website itself at all.

    Thank You

Was this site built on another domain and recently moved to https://www.nomadnattie.com?

I’m wondering if, for development purposes, it was built on another domain. If that’s the case, you can implement a few methods to get everything pointing to the correct domain at https://www.nomadnattie.com.

    Let us know ??

I’ll send you links that describe those methods if we determine that it’s a domain issue.

I am having the same problem. At first I thought there was something wrong with my website, but I tried a fresh install and the problem was still there. I also checked other websites I own, and again, the problem was still there. There is something definitely wrong with the new release of 4.3. Please tell me that somebody is working on this. Our problems began two releases ago, 4.2.4, I think. That was about a week ago.

Specifically, when I try to “add a new theme” it does not show any themes to choose from. When I try to “add a new plugin”, it says “page not found”. If the plugin directory does not exist, it says “page not found”. I was able to fix that problem by manually creating a plugin directory.

Basically, after the 4.2.4 update, my site would not display. I emptied the theme directory, and it would still not display. I emptied the plugin directory, and then it displayed with the default theme, and i was able to copy my original theme and activate it.

At this point my site could display, but it could not add new themes or a plugin.

While similar your problem it’s not the same. Taking over someone else’s problem isn’t the way to solve yours.

Thanks all for the replies. I have not brought it from any other place. I havn’t moved a thing. In fact nothing has changed at all since it worked last. It was working fine then I didnt log in for about a week and a half and I logged in and had 8 updates available and noticed the problem when I tried to update and had these issues. So Im wondering if its one of the updates that is making everything off sync. I am not very computer savvy at all and I have no idea how to work with coding so not sure what to do. :/

Now I cannot login to my wordpress at all and it says invalid username when its not! And now my site has this on the top:

    +ADw-/title+AD4-Hacked by Hwins2005+ADw-DIV style+AD0AIg-DISPLAY: none+ACIAPgA8-xmp+AD4-

    Anyone know whats going on?

Great. Went to CPanel through my host. Then went to the phpMyAdmin app and went to wp_users and changed the email address then went to wp admin login and put in that email address and requested a new password and then was able to login.

Once in, everything else is back to normal and I was able to do the updates as well so they must have been linked somehow.

    Thanks for your help.
