• Hello Woocommerce team,

is it possible to make attributes inherited from category or from a “sample” product ?

i have many categories in my store, and i need each category to have its own attributes and based on these attributes i want each category to have its own variations.

this is an example of categories and attributes that i want to go with it :

    Cars (Brand – Model – Year – Engine – Energy …)
    Appartements (Space – Rooms – Balcony – Parking …)
    Clothes (Color – Size – Cut – Material – Tissue …)
    Mobiles (Memory – OS – Camera – Screen size … )

and while adding a product in category “Cars” i need to see only “Attributes” of cars category and in front end, when someone is looking for a product, and if he is choosing Cars category, i want him to see only “Cars” variations.

plz advice me how it is possible to do this, because i really really extremely need it.

    Thank you very much ??

This is not possible out of the box – it would need to be added with customisation. we are considering attribute groups for a future version.

Hello Mr. Mike, Thnx for reply

but i think attributes groups is not what iam looking for, because with attributes groups, i should choose the attribute during the process of adding product. but what i want is to load attributes automatically in product based on the category that vendor decided to publish this product on.

i have a multi vendor store, so vendors r not so professopnal to know woocommerce rules, they need something clear and easy.

    Thnx a lot ??

Similar but not quite the same. You need to do this via customisation, but it may be tricky if attributes must change with the category.

i think it would be something like this :

    – while adding attributes, we could have an additional multi select that allows which categories we want to link attributes to.

    – then on product page, while adding a new product, i’ll make category selection to come first, then, when client selects category, it will load attributes of this category automatically using ajax.

the concept could sound a bit tricky, but after thinking we could come up with a good solution

Mike, i would like to check with u something else, attributes depandancy, for example, Brands and Models, Models is always depandant on Brand is there any solution for it while adding product, and while filtering products results ?

    Thnx a lot
