Hi! initially when i installed 2.2 before everything was working fine un til i tried 2.3.1, what i did since i’m starting a new blog was install 2.2 from fantastico and then manually upgraded it to 2.3.1, i followed the instructions well and once installed i only encountered one problem. whenever i create a new post or page, it isn’t created in my database. the onlypage that shows up is index page where i can see all my blog entries, but visiting its own page, i get a 500 internal error sicne no page is created in my database. the thing i notice, during the installation, i deleted everything that’s needed to be deleted, thus having a blank blog, i have the wp-contents folder and wp-config.php files left only. i notice that before in 2.2 once i created a post, the 2007/10 folder is created in the includes folder(pls note i used the date and name based permalink and even if my .htaccess is not writable by others, i had the code inside so it was working perfectly before in 2.2). however, for the 2.3.1, no folder is created automatically. i used the same settings i had before in 2.2 after i upgraded to 2.3.1. what should be the problem now and what should i do? help pls. thanks.

  • No, there is never a year/month folder created in the wp-includes folder.

Such folders are created in wp-content/uploads but ONLY if you upload an image (or a file) in that month.

Okie here is what i notice. when i use the default permalink, all links to my pages and posts works fine. however, if i use other permalinks like name and date based or numeric, thats when the problem occurs. i tried manually inserting the wordpress code in my .htaccess to be able to use name and date based permalink just like what i used to do before but then, even if the links’s style were updated, they are broken. i even tried changing my .htaccess’ permission to 777 so that wp will automatically write the code in it but still, when i updated my permalink from default to name and date based, i get the “You should update your .htaccess now.” and when i check my .htaccess, no wp code is written and when i view my blog, the link’s url were changed but when you link they are broken, im getting a 500 or 404 error.

what should i do now? i dont wanna stick with the default permalink structure. name and date based worked for me before, but when i upgraded to 2.3.1, it doesnt work now.
