Hi Deb, it looks like the current slide image was uploaded while the slideshow dimensions were set to 940×200, so the slide image was cropped to that size.

Now that the slideshow dimensions are set to 500×200, any new slide images you upload should be cropped to that size. So if you size your images to 500×200 and then upload them and set them as the slide images, they should fit perfectly.

Hi Josh, first the meteor slider is awesome. I checked out during the past week handful of addins for slider and yours is friendly and does what I need.

i’d like to know if there is an option of shrinking the slides and not cropping them. sizing images is a tricky science for me. I create slides on powerpoint, convert them to png images and try to fit them in the screen but any change I do with the meteor crops them. I would like to have these images shrunk to the correct size without me doing millions of error and trials.

    many thanks,

Hi Danny, it is possible to shrink featured images like the slide images instead of cropping them. But it’s tough to get right unless the original images are the exact same aspect ratio as the slideshow, and if that’s the case why not just resize them before hand.

WordPress isn’t the best tool for image editing, but of course, neither is PowerPoint! You will get the best results with a proper image editor like Photoshop or Gimp. For something simple like cropping and resizing, or even making slides, you could use a web app like Pixlr or Photoshop Express.

If you do need to use Powerpoint, I would suggest using a custom slide size that matches the slideshow dimensions exactly so you can export images from there that match the slideshow perfectly. Not sure if you can specify a size in pixels with Powerpoint, but you can do this with Google Slides.
