Brasserie Child Theme

I was advised that I should make a child theme, in case there were updates to the theme. This is what I put…

I have included the stylesheet, but it says that it fails the upload because it needs an index file (However, all of the documentation that I have seen does not say to include the index file).

When I do include the index file it uploads, but does not work.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can fix this?
I LOVE this theme and want to keep it.
