    My multisite’s admin side is very slow and gives connection error after the update to 4.2.4 and I don’t have the slightest clu why this happens. I have tried to look at the problem from the error log, but it gives no reasonable answer to why this is happening, neither does the developer tools in chrome. Does anyone have the same problem?

  • When you say “connection error” does that mean that when you try to access the admin dashboard for one of your multisite sites, you are getting nothing?

    Whenever I try to go to a /wp-admin portion of one of my multisite sites, I am getting from Firefox:

    The page isn’t redirecting properly

    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

    Looks like “too many redirects”. I tried with Safari and got “Safari can’t open the page”.

    I had updated to the new version of WP and hadn’t updated my plugins or themes yet (a practice I usually avoid as I tend to update plugins and themes before the WP software). That resulted in the white screen of death.

    I then called up GoDaddy support to see if they could resolve the issue (look, I was lazy!). They told me to go back into my database and update every default theme setting (under the wp_options field) with “twentyfourteen”. That seemed to fix my main site as I was able to access the frontend and backend again, and the network admin dashboard, too.

    Whenever I try to access the dashboard for one of the sites in my network, I get the error messages above. I also cannot edit any of the posts on those sites in the network because it says the page doesn’t exist.

    Any ideas?

    Similar problem here. After 4.2.4 update I also lost all my admin theme options, it is not enabled anymore. I can not create any new page as well, it shows the following “Oops! That page can’t be found.

    It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try one of the links below or a search?

    Not sure if it’s related but I also had a major slow down in the admin area after updating to 4.2.4. The problem ended up being a plugin called “Installer” and cot being able to get to https://wp-compatibility.com/

    Once I turned that off I was all good.

    Hope this helps someone else.

    Jei, Wasca, thank you!! I have been struggling with this problem for hours and that really helped, now the admin is as it was! Great, saved me hours of work!

    I am having the same problem as well ??

    Don’t have a plugin called “Installer” to turn off to solve the problem…? Admin seems to work fine periodically, but then I’ll be in the middle of working on something, and I get the “Connection lost…we’ve saved this post in your browser history just in case” message. If I try to update or navigate away from the page, it goes slow as molasses and I can’t get anywhere. So frustrating!!!

    I’m new to WordPress and not sure how to troubleshoot. Right now I’m attempting to deactivate my plugins one at a time, but progress is painfully slow. I thought it might be a server issue as I received a server alert from my web host earlier this week. However, they have indicated that the issue has been resolved. The front end of my website is also taking forever to load though…

    This is driving me nuts – anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

    I let WordPress update to 4.2.4 this afternoon. Immediately after, I added a page and published. Was given the “Connection lost…we’ve saved this post in your browser history just in case” message.

    I was unable to load the site after this. I tried to load the site in an incognito window and other browsers and could see the browser connect to the domain for a split second, then spin until timeout trying to load the page.

    In the same WordPress Dashboard tab I had open earlier, I clicked to load Settings / WP Super Cache. It loaded (thankfully), so I clicked “Delete Cache.”

    Problem solved. Everything started working just fine.

    Hi everyone, after upgrading automatically to 4.2.4 I have a problem too: I cannot access the admin of my WP website.
    I used to have a “/clogin” admin address, but now that gets me a “404 error” page.

    From the WP email I received it seems that the admin address is now “//app/wp-admin” but id doesn’t work (it only shows me the upper part, the main menu bar)
    that the admin address.

    Tried with Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

    The cache part ring a bell for me, but even cleaning the cache on my memcached it still not working properly.

    I had to also remove the hole plugin (installer) to get the admin working properly. I hope this lasts now.

    Hi I have the same problem with backend bur I don’t have the plugin called “Installer”. I was looking for that but I did’tn even know it.

    It seems to be a plugin problem with the last update but I deactivated all the plugins and the problem was still there.

    Thank you so much, the deactivation of the Installer (v0.7.1) plugin solved my (admin-) performance problems as well on my WP v4.2.4 installation.
