• I’ve had my website running for the past year, WP 3.8.x, with the theme TryMee and 4-5 plugins. I’ve never had any issues with it, up until a few days ago. (while I haven’t change any themes or updated any plugins for a few weeks when the problem occurred)

I started noticing Dashboard was getting slower and slower, to a point where it would take 20-30mins to load a page and sometimes it doesn’t load. While the front end is still perfectly fine. So I left it for a few days, it seemed to have became normal again.

But 2 days later. Same issue occured, and now I can barely access the Dashboard. Sometimes it takes 20-30mins to load a page, sometimes it comes back with 404 error or 500 internal server error after 20-30mins. Or if I choose to edit/add a page, it would load after awhile, then straight away – lost connection.

So here’s a few troubleshooting that I did by myself:

    • Disable all plugins by itself through phpMyAdmin – nothing
    • Disable the theme by itself through phpMyAdmin – nothing
    • Delete and play around with .htaccess – nothing
    • Disable BOTH plugins and theme through phpMyAdmin – dashboard works perfectly fine
    • Enable plugins one by one without theme – works fine
    • Enable theme by itself – dashboard stops working

So after realising it’s the theme that is causing problems, I’ve tried to further troubleshoot:

    • Install existing version of theme on existing database and WP – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on existing database and WP – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on existing database and WP – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on new database and existing WP – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on new database and fresh WP 3.8.5 – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on new database and fresh WP 3.8.9 – freezes on activation
    • Install newest version of theme on new database and fresh WP 4.2.3 – freezes on activation

So now, it seems like whatever I do, I cannot even install ANY version of TryMee theme on ANYTHING. And this issue has just came out of nowhere.

I had enabled the debug log, there are only notices, no fatal errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions to why I can’t even install this theme? I noticed on the themeforest website, a couple of people are having the same issue too.

    Thanks

  • This theme is 4 years old now, quite a long time in the WordPress world…

As it is a premium theme, you should consider using their support system, there should be details here:

I know it is old, but it was working perfectly fine and out of nowhere, it just stopped..

And yeah, I have sent through a support ticket, but I’m hoping someone else here can come up with solution quicker than their support…

It sounds like you have identified the problem as the theme bug/comparability issues… let’s hope their support comes up with a solution.

But what I don’t understand is… Why the theme was working perfectly fine, for over a year. Then suddenly, it just stops. And it didn’t just stop on my existing website. I can’t even install it onto ANY other WP sites/versions…

    Hi!

I am having trouble accessing my dashboard, when I sign in it comes up with a fatal error message which I am unsure of (pasted below).

Fatal error: Call to undefined function doing_action() in /home/content/75/9788175/html/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/admin/class-admin.php on line 616

I haven’t upload any plugins for months and the plugin mentioned on the error message has been on the site for nearly a year so I don’t understand why this would affect the website? Also, I had an email through to say that my site had been updated, not sure if this has something to do with the reason I cant access my dashboard? It is really important that I can access the dashboard as I update new posts onto the website every day, so this is having a major impact on business!

If anyone could help that would be great!

The website being automatically updated might have something to do with it, clashing with your plugin?

It’s best if you turn off all your plugins via FTP or phpMyAdmin, then try enabling everything except that plugin to see if your website functions.

And I guess when you do find out it’s the plugin that is causing issues, you can either delete it or find a substitute or something..

    Thank you for the response,

Is there any way I can do this without having to go into the dashboard? As when I press ‘log in’ its just a white page with that error message on and I can’t seem to get off the page. I have tried loading up my website then pressing dashboard and my account on my website but the same page appears.

I aren’t sure what FTP or phpMyAdmin are, so if you could explain these then that would be great! I have to sign into an admin account, mentioned above, not sure if that’s the same thing as the phpMyAdmin?
