• After submitting a sitemap to google webmaster tools, I have found around fifty 404 errors that are coming from images, pages, and links that no longer exist on my site. I noticed that if I try to recreate a page with the same name as a deleted page, WordPress adds a “-2” to the end.

    EX: yoursite.this/samplepage yoursite.this/samplepage-2
This tells me that either WordPress thinks the page still exist, or that it never got deleted from the database to begin with.

I could use redirects, but I prefer not to as it could affect how google likes my website.
How do I delete these pages from the database OR how do I fix the 404 issues with WordPress?
