  • This would be helpful, LindsayBSC. Great idea!

Do you have a place you’ve already posted the code in the meantime?

I am working on figuring out how to limit the “Popular” and “Recent” posts to certain categories, but it sounds like your code might be an option.

No rush to reply – thanks for even thinking of sharing your work with others. ??

Caleb – believe I forked your repo and submitted a pull request on git. If i didn’t remidn me

Hi LindsayBSC – thanks for your reply. ??

If you ever figure out a way to display the posts in the Popular or Recent tabs by category, that would be amazing.

I realize now that what I had in mind is different than what you pulled off, that is, displaying the categories in a tab vs. displaying the posts by category in the Recent/Popular tab.

Thanks again for taking the time to let me know about the pull request and for sharing it on GitHub.

    Onward. ??

I’m sorry, but can suggest how to add new categories?

I submitted a pull request that includes categories. You can take the code here

It has yet to be rolled into the plugin’s core, so be aware that updating will overwrite those changes.

thank you, I took your code (thanks for the work done;)), I mean the addition of tabs function, show patience with me, thank you)

Thanks for the idea. I replaced Tabbed Sidebar Widgets, which worked well but hasn’t been updated in 2 years.

However, after installing your code, it is not really showing “Categories”…it is showing “Menu Items”.

I’m sorry I am confused. I clicked your link and see tabs with categories working just fine.

    Sorry, you are right.

It is not bringing up Post SubCategories.

It was not coded to include sub categories (mostly because from a visual UI standpoint, it could get messy looking)

more so, Tabbed Sidebar Widgets would only show categories with posts in them. It worked well. I use sub catagories so there are no posts in them, just the posts in the subcategories.

Its just simply a matter of taking the code I wrote and tweaking the query for the category terms to include empty categories AND second level categories

I don’t know how to do that. But thanks anyway for the hack.
