• Hello,

On my website, the text is not confined to the excerpt but extends to the image. I have tried various percentages of the excerpt, still, there is always text on the image.

I have also considered to remove the excerpt altogether (and just to have the text directly on the image) by choosing the percentage 0 for the excerpt but the excerpt does not disappear.

My question is: How can I ensure that the text remains limited to the excerpt and/or how can I remove the excerpt entirely.

    Thank you and kind regards

    Hi Aljechin!

If you uncheck “Display Content in Slider” under Genesis → Slider Settings → Content Settings, the excerpt text should no longer be visible: https://d.pr/i/wfn8

To hide the excerpt section altogether, you’d also need to uncheck, “Display Post/Page Title in Slider.”

If you’d prefer to display some post text but limit the length of the content, you would need to tick “Display Content in Slider”, choose “Display post content” from the drop-down, and set a character limit: https://d.pr/i/HylI

To have the text directly on the image, you’d need to modify the color of the excerpt background with CSS to be transparent, as opposed to setting the width of the excerpt to 0.

If you need more help with this, you’re welcome to share:

    1. A link to your site if it’s available online.
    2. A screenshot of your current slider settings.
    3. Some more information about whether you’ve decided to hide the excerpt altogether or try to limit it to a fixed length.

    Hello Nick,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. The url of my website is

I would rather try to limit the text to the excerpt than get rid of the excerpt altogether. Sorry, I do not know how to insert a screenshot in this post.

I do not think that the length of the text is the problem (currently, I have limited the length to 100 characters, but I have tried some other options). It is rather where the text is displayed. It is ‘overlapping’ onto the image. I would like to have it just in the excerpt as shown in the example of the Executive Theme on the studiopress-website

    Best regards,

    Hi Holger

Thanks for sharing a link to your site.

It looks like your slide excerpt width is currently set to 20%. The width we set for the Executive theme demo site is 30%. You could try setting the “Slider Excerpt Width” value to 30 in Genesis → Slider Settings → Content Settings, which might fix things for you.

There’s a list of slider settings at https://my.studiopress.com/setup/executive-theme/#step-10 under “How to Configure the Genesis Responsive Slider Settings” that you are also welcome to check, to be sure that your other settings match the demo site too.

(If you ever need to share a screenshot on these forums in the future, the easiest way is to upload it to a site such as https://imgur.com/ and then link to the screenshot there.)

If you need any more advice at all, feel free to let me know.
