• Greetings, I hope someone can help me.
I accidentally removed my wp config file.
    Before I posted here….
I have read plenty of documentation and have tried several methods to remedy my problem. And so I am stummped!
Which leaves me no alternative except seeking help from a wp wizard out there.
One of my issues as the later is locating my DB name, DB username and DB password in phpmyadmin so that I can use these details to insert them in a new wp config file, upload and be able to pull up my site again.

But when I am logged in phpmyadmin, into my correct database and tried changing the database name and password, using these to replace in my wp config file and upload back to the wordpress folder. It doesn’t seem to work.

Also after I choose a new password and select “go” in phpmyadmin, it shows me numerous numbers, and is not the ( encrypted?) password that I chose?? Any wp wizards out there that can help? I am stummped!

Cant seem to get my site back up!
Please any help would be great.

  • my DB name, DB username and DB password in phpmyadmin

You can get these from your webhost, usually under a “MySQL” tab somewhere in your control panel.

Alternately, since you are accessing your database in phpmyadmin through a web browser, you can check your browser’s stored passwords, if you stored your password there.

The DB username and password are different to the username and password you use to log in to WordPress.

Thanks, but I already tried that, and for some reason did not work, perhaps had a bug or conflict of some sort. I have taken care of it!
I had to backup DB, drop DB and re install a fresh wordpress and reload database. And now it is fixed.

Strongly suggest backing up your site and Database files on your host, then it’s only a couple clicks to restore.
