• I’m so new to this and in testing out customization for a couple of themes I have accidentally created two. I’m finding this experience not very user friendly and I need to find a way to delete the 2nd site. It keeps coming up when I’m trying to deal with the one I want. I need a patient person to help, please.
    thanks

Are you possibly hosted at wordpress.com? Adding a second installation of WordPress cannot be done from the Dashboard at a self-hosted site, so I suspect the help you need will come from the folks at wordpress.com, your host:

I’m actually with Blue Host. I’m probably not explaining this correctly. I think I should just call wordpress and speak to someone who can possibly walk me through. Thanks for your response:)

Oops, please forgive my assumption! There is no one you can call at www.remarpro.com, but I also have my sites at BlueHost. So, tell me as many details as you can recall about how you got to where you are and I will try to help…unless, of course, you might want to give the Support Techs at BlueHost a call. I believe they have just changed shifts, so you might get a fresh brain who can actually look at what you have where I can only ask questions or guess!

You are so nice to follow up. I’m feeling like an idiot at the moment and quite incompetent. I honestly am not sure what I did, but I’ll try to explain. So I just want to start a blog, keep it simple and hopefully have it grow into something bigger. I started out with the Penscratch theme, but moved on to explore others because I was looking for some more design options. So I then stumbled upon the Zuki theme, which I loved and purchased. I spent all of yesterday, trying to set up and customize and when I got frustrated at one point, I thought that maybe it was too sophisticated for me so I decided to search for something more simple. One of the ones I was playing around with is called Founder. This is the one that keeps coming up and the one I want to get rid of. So in a nutshell, when I log in it says that both Founder and Zuki are my active themes, but when I want to view site, only Founder comes up.

when I log in it says that both Founder and Zuki are my active themes, but when I want to view site, only Founder comes up.

That is quite odd, but anything is possible!

What I would do is to go to cPanel > File Manger at BlueHost and then navigate to the ‘/public_html/wp-content/themes/’ folder and temporarily rename the ‘/founder/’ theme folder to something like ‘/foun-der/’ to deactivate that theme and then take a browser-refreshed look at your Dashboard. Or if you might want to be rid of that theme altogether, just delete its folder.

If you try that and things are still confused, do the same (rename) with the other theme (its own uniqure folder) and WordPress *should* activate the default Twenty Fifteen theme.

So it’s your opinion that I should contact BlueHost rather than WordPress regarding this?

Ok. So i navigated my way through bluehost and was somehow able to get rid of founder. Yay. But then I went back to check out my site and it said that the Founder site was ‘broken’ and thus the them was reverted to the default theme. Hence, I still have two sites called openstudioarts. Is that even possible? Additionally, when I go to my themes in word press, the one I purchased, Zuki doesn’t come up. Again very confusing!!

    hi leejosepho
my case is also a bit peculiar like this .i am posting here may be you would be able to understand .

i had taken a domain name and created a partial website at wordpress.com than i created my fully functional website in my own vps server .when enter https://www.quranstudycentre.org it opens my local host website ,which i want to do but when enter only quranstudycentre.org without prefix www. it goes to partial created at website at wordpress .I want this url also to open as https://www.quranstudycentre.org.my DNS settings are pasted below . .i ve tried to delete the first A record of quranstudycentre.org and also tried to change its ip to my local host .it does not accept it .can you please help me
    A quranstudycentre.org handled by WordPress.com
    NS quranstudycentre.org handled by WordPress.com
    CNAME *.quranstudycentre.org handled by WordPress.com
A https://www.quranstudycentre.org points to my host IP

So it’s your opinion that I should contact BlueHost rather than WordPress regarding this?

The only thing I know about anything related to DNS is that I go to my Registrar to point my domains to the nameservers where their “self-hosted” (non-wordpress.com) WordPress installations are located. In that regard, you would go to your WordPress.com Dashboard or Registrar to be certain ‘www.quranstudycentre.org’ is pointed at the BlueHost nameservers, and then at BlueHost is where that domain next gets cPanel-assigned to your ‘/public_html/’ folder.

when enter ‘https://www.quranstudycentre.org’ it opens my local host website

At this moment in time, ‘quranstudycentre.org’ is pointed at the servers at wordpress.com:
    https://www.whois.com/whois/quranstudycentre.org

Nothing is going to work correctly at BlueHost until you first go to your wordpress.com Dashboard and point ‘quranstudycentre.org’ to the BlueHost nameservers.

After you get that sorted out, you next want to add some .htaccess so ‘quranstudycentre.org’ will always land where you want it to go either with or without the preceding www:

    Domain not pointing to WordPress.com
Does anyone know what this means?

    Domain not pointing to WordPress.com

Who or what is telling you that? Here is what I still see:

    Name Server:NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    Name Server:NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

When I was attempting another way to delete one of my websites, or at least what I don’t want, I uncovered this. It was in my upgrades. It would allow me to delete the theme I purchased not the default one

You can go directly to your files at BlueHost server in a couple of ways. One is to use FileZilla with an FTP/SFTP connection, and another is to go to BlueHost > cPanel > File Manager. At that point, you can upload, move, delete and so on just like with whatever file manager you might use on your local computer. If you ever need to access your database directly, you can do that via BlueHost > cPanel > phpMyAdmin…and my point here is to say all of that is completely separate from even having a domain at all.

‘quranstudycentre.org’ is currently pointed at the nameservers at wordpress.com, and nothing at BlueHost is going to work properly until you change that. You might have some kind of temporary URL at BlueHost for accessing your WordPress in a browser, but ‘quranstudycentre.org’ and/or ‘www.quranstudycentre.org’ do not go there at the moment.

    ‘quranstudycentre.org’
    What is that?
