Images on server but not showing on site

What theme are you using? Do the images show if you switch to one of the default themes (TwentyFifteen, for example)?

Nope changing theme makes no difference, I’ve just found out that the images all point to a different domain

I think the client has moved the site and for some reason the links are still to the old site.

So, the revised question is – how to get the images pointing to the right ones in the upload folder.

I recommend using Velvet Blues Update URLs plugin. It should do the trick.

Note: backup the database before running the plugin. Just in case ??

when you inspect the page, do you see that the images are still linked to the old site? One more thing, when running Velvet, did you check all the boxes in Step 2? Selecting Changing “URL for attachments” should do the trick but…

I ticked all the boxes

the main banner is showing up as the old site, the images are showing as (an example)

apart from the last box, I didn’t tick Update ALL GUIDs GUIDs for posts should only be changed on development sites. Learn More.

It seemed to work better with no https:// in front of the www

argh – this just in from the client who asked the host:

“this is down to the move today – and the pending domain update – everything should be fine tomorrow

Can you make sure no updates are done today or tomorrow until it settles down please.”

so have I really messed things up now?

He he. Don’t worry. Just restore he database you backed up earlier.

I only backed up the config file and the wp content ?? the site wouldn’t let me backup via iThemes

Oh well. If you run into any problems tomorrow, i suppose that the host has the database dump so they can restore it (if needed).
