I’ve been using this plugin for a few weeks now and realized today that I’m having an issue pinning my images to Pinterest. I deactivated the plugin and the issue was resolved so I’m thinking this plugin might be the issue.

When I try to pin images from my site to Pinterest I am getting the following message:

Parameter ‘image_url’ (value http:undefined) is not a valid URL format.

    Have you seen this before?

    My website is https://reasonstocomehome.com

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello Paige,

I am pretty sure I know the issue. Pinterest it not that clever then and doesn’t handle the new srcset format to specify images in HTML yet.

I checked your blog, everything working fine for Retina and indeed you only have the srcset, which is actually ideal. However, if you really want Pinterest to detect the images, you might want to turn the Keep IMG SRC option on. And if you do, you should also turn the Use Lazysizes as well.

Do I have to have the Pro version to do these two things? I changed both of those settings and it still doesn’t seem to work.

Yes, those two are Pro settings. I am working hard to make the plugin work on many different installs with many different cases but I am adding those new options in the Pro version only.

Alternatively, you can change your Retina method to Retina.js and that will work too.

Is there a downside to using the Retina.js method?

The downside is that it is first loading the normal image, then it is loading the Retina images. Double-loading.

The PictureFill method + those two options checked would only one once on modern browsers, and twice on older browsers but in a lazy way to avoid slowing the website.
