• Yes, I tried all the steps in all the other posts about it, but I still can’t log in as the admin. It kicks me back to wp-login.php (like refreshing).
    I’ve put in:
    $user_login = $user_data->user_login;
Went into my database and ensured the password was what I wanted by going to whatever that site was and hashing out my password and pasting it in.
Still, nothing. It worked fine for the first two hours I had it installed.

  • This is exactly what is happening to me.. I’ve done a search and TONS of people are having this same problem… Where it the fix? Am I missing it??
    Please help!

Have you tried clearing your browser cache/temporary internet files? I had the same problem at my school (I’m a teacher), and it didn’t help, but it’s worth a shot.

Yes.. tried everything. Emptied cache, cleared cookies, re-booted. Tried editing the login file, tried resetting the password in phpmyadmin, I even un-installed the entire thing and re-installed it. Can’t log in. I give up. ?? I was so hoping to convert my Greymatter blog to WordPress too.

I am having the same problem. It is very annoying.

I had this problem and found a possible solution.
I was using GoDaddy’s domain forwarding with masking. What this does is make my domain name stay in the address bar of the browser while it loads my true URI in a frame. If users were logging in using IE, they would cycle back to the wp-login.phpp file. This did not happen using Mozilla or Firefox, thus making it harder for me to detect the error.
I turned off the masking at GoDaddy and it works. It puts an unsavory URI in the address bar, but now IE works for logons.
    Hope that helps someone.

There seem to be multiple causes for this problem, but masking is not a factor for me.

Same problem. I was fine until I updated my profile. After that I could not logon via either username.
Dumped cooked, temporary files, rebooted, made changes to wp-login.php. Checked the hash code in the MySQL database and it matches the hash for what the password should be.
Same problem under IE or Mozilla it just keeps coming back to the logon screen.

Having the same/similar problem in Firefox: it all worked fine with the username/passwd handed out by the install, but now I’ve changed the admin profile, I keep getting sent back to /wp-login.php. Adding a new user, both from the admin screen and from following the “register” link in the blog hasn’t changed anything (same result for both of those combinations)
    Any ideas?

    [same anon as above]
ok, clearing cookies seemed to do it for me: doesn’t look like WP bothers clearing cookies it’s set once. Or something.

    First admin login problems:
Ok guys… I found out what the problem was for me, so I’m posting in hopes that it will help others. I am running zonealarm which has a privacy feature built into it. This blocks cookies, web bugs, etc. I had to allow those features for the site where I am running my wordpress software.
So basically go into your zonealarm properties (or whatever internet privacy software you have running) and allow cookies etc for the site you’re running the blogger on. To test if this is your problem, you can shutdown your zonealarm or other software and see if you can successfully log in.
Worked for me… took me about an hour and a half to figure out though! Let me know if this helps.

i’m using firefox 0.9 – cleared my cookies and turned off zonealarm. still no go. this was all working before my router went haywire on me. had switched out routers for a couple weeks and finally got my ‘original setup’ back to the way it was. i keep trying to login with admin and the page comes right back blanked out as if nothing happened. anymore ideas?
    thanks.

another weird thing. i believe i can actually login from outside of my private network (i’ll have to confirm this) but i thought i was able to before. it just seems like i’m having more issues with my private network and possible loopback issues. could possibly be a cookies issue too if i’m still logged in somewhere else : / not sure…

well now i cant do anything productive with my wordpress ; I CANT LOGIN

Anon – which version of wp ? What steps have you tried to login ? Do you have phpmyadmin ? Link to your site ?

    bandwidthcrunch.snbadani.com/wordpress PODZ
no phpadmin on my site and as luck would have it i dont remember the version but am sure its 1.2
