Images show gray icons for half the images

Hi i am having this issue with images not showing just showing a grey icon but for about 90% i can see the images …. Strange ….

When i try to upload a featured image then add it to a post nothing happens. If i go into media gallery it shows as a grey icon.

If i goto the image link it shows the image that i have uploaded.

What could be causing these issues.

1. Gray icons for all new images?
2. can not add Featured image to post.

I have tryed disabling all plugins but this don’t seem to be the issue. I have also tryed changing the upload folder permission’s and still don’t seem to be the issue.
