• I’ve seen a thread about the admin-ajax processes, but no one has said anything about it overloading the server. I installed Lively Chat and only after 3 chat sessions I received a warning from hostgator stating we were using 44% CPU resources when the limit is 25% on our shared server. They then cached our site until the “issue” was resolved so I had to remove Lively Chat from our site. So I’m assuming that this requires a dedicated server to use? If not, please inform. Thank you. FYI I wish I could have kept it. I loved it until we got the warning!

  • The said they would do an update couple of weeks ago but nothing yet…

Is there an update coming or do we need to search for other plugin because this server load really brings us in to problems with hosters.

This issue seems to only be with some hosts, on some sites.

A quick solution is to increase the polling time on chatbox/js/chatbox.js (line 81):
    https://github.com/dallasread/lively-chat-support/blob/cb4d6b0956bd2e296dd4edf43edcb4b9342c0f61/chatbox/js/chatbox.js#L81

Something like 5000 (5 seconds) should help.

We are still working on the update, but we can’t release software that is subpar. If you must move on to another plugin, we’re sad to see you leave, but we understand. We’ll notify you when the update is ready.

    Thanks!
