ideas for archiving?

  • When I’ve gotten comfortable using the plugin, I will install it on a live site that has thousands of comments archived as Q & A in one huge web page. There’s got to be a better way! Do you have a suggestion? Custom field added to the comments form? (Which file(s) would I choose for editing the PHP to do that?) Categories or tags? Something involving several steps and a plugin such as TablePress? Something else?

    Once I have an approach for archiving new comments, I think I can figure out some tricks for getting the thousands of old comments into whatever format I end up using.

    Sorry I wasn’t clear. I need to find a way of archiving comments, and assigning one or more tags or categories or something of that sort to each comment, either when it is submitted by the visitor, or by admin later on.

    The site I am working on has thousands of old questions (= comments) and answers that have been manually archived, and I would like to streamline this process in future.
