Hey 12AX7. Postmatic is just an extension for native commenting. Nothing gets out of hand.

    I recommend these both:

Well, user data goes from my page to Postmatic and from you to MailChimp. Your respective privacies honored but that is simply not considered taking care of my user’s privacy anymore. But like I said, I love the approach!

We send outgoing mail if you are using a paid plan. The free version sends outgoing mail using your webhost. Incoming comments do of course come back through our server and post to your site via the WP api.

Are you running a private site that does not have publicly available posts and comments? If so I’d love to talk to you more about what your needs are. We’re putting together some features to accommodate for fully closed sites right now and it’d be handy to know what your use case would be.

My website is all about privacy. So sending private user data to two third party companies is not considered good privacy practice. We’ve seen these privacy policies fail too many times..

My site has both public and login functionality but I have decided to rely on this plugin instead, mainly because it is a fully local solution:

Sure, it’s not as fancy and innovative but it suits my needs better, so since you were asking ??

Huh. I’m not sure what you mean by sending data to two third party companies. As I said, the free version of Postmatic doesn’t handle outgoing email at all. It all goes out through your webhost, just the same as the other plugin you mention.

By its very nature email is neither secure nor private. If you are trying to create a secure environment for your users to communicate in keep in mind that touching email at means sending user data through the networks and services of dozens of different entities. Some friendly and some not.

I know email is the post card of the internet and yes, you’re right about what you said. However, users don’t know their email address (when replying) is sent to you and then via MailChimp servers. I think when they get an email from “me”, they have to assume that only I am dealing with that email address.

I don’t even embed Youtube Videos or social media buttons because of privacy reasons so I may be a bit extreme for a regular example.

I would love to use your plugin if it has the option to only work with scripts located on my server, do you know what I mean? Sure, I have to have a good email server (which I have) and an IP address (which I have).
