Is manual WordPress installation better than automatic WordPress installation by

    Godaddy and many other wp hosting companies provides one-click installation (aka automatic installation). But I personally prefer manual installation as it feels more like ‘starting from scratch’. I am pretty sure there are people out there host their sites on WP hosting companies and install engines by themselves. I wonder what are the advantage of manual wp installation.

    I vote for manual installation. Though both will get your installation running.

    The reason I suggest manual is because if you do that then you’ll have a greater understanding of how WordPress was installed and what you did. That makes it easier for you to support your site and you learn a small amount about system administration. Learning is good. ??

    In addition, I have found that on the few hosts where I have tested their ‘one-click’ installs they add plugins and change settings that you may not want. In other words, you don’t get a `clean’ install.

    That said, when one uses a Managed WordPress hosting service, there is generally no way to avoid using the items they require to provide the features their hosting offers.

    I totally agree with what Jan says about learning in the course of wp installation. However I often witness WP beginners go with auto installation for the sake of convenience.

    As I prefer ‘clean’ install, I could not agree more with what Lyle says. Managed WP hostings sneak in so called ‘optimization plugins’. I have always doubted its effect. It might help site performance, but having it as a bundle plugin bothers me somehow.
