Need to delete file from server.

  • Was recently approached about a copyrighted pdf that had been uploaded and made available within our work WP site. We removed the reference to the pdf in the blog post, but it is still on our server, available if you try hard enough to find it. The PDF isn’t in the media library and can only be found via Post > Add Media > Insert from Server … Then we can find the pdf in some file path. I’m assuming the administrator for the WP site server has to go in to delete the pdf, but that may take some time. Can I access and delete this file from the server hosting our WP blog via the wp-admin?

  • Below Posts, there is a link to Media>Library. In there you should be able to find your PDF, and if you click on it, you should see a “Delete Permanently” link on the right side.

    That’s the thing, It’s not in the library. Scoured it to no avail.

    You will need to FTP onto your hosting server and delete the file manually.
