    Hi,

When I visit a “Category” page the category filter completely disappears. It won’t reappear even if i visit the shop page or almost any other page …it reappears after I visit the homepage and return to the shop page or if I open in a private window.

The same happens for tags, etc.
If I go to a product page and click on a specific tag …after visiting that page I can’t see the tag filter anymore…

    Best regards.

That’s actually among the 1st things I did before posting here.

On some devices (a tablet for example) the category filter shows after returning to the shop page. But the problem is that it completely disappears on any specific category page – even if there are products that are found under multiple categories.

Normal behaviour would be keep display that category as checked and any other categories that include products from that category unchecked.

    Hello
So you have no such behaviour with products categories as here foe example:
    https://www.demo.woocommerce-filter.com/product-category/clothing/
    https://www.demo.woocommerce-filter.com/product-category/clothing/hoodies/
    https://www.demo.woocommerce-filter.com/product-category/clothing/hoodies/doodies/
    ?

Normal behaviour would be keep display that category as checked and any other categories – another way – such parent category is simply hidden. Why? What scenario you can imagine if uncheck such parent? Better hide it, for customers its clear on which category he is on the current moment of the time <link, titles, breadcrumbs>

By the way: right way to assign terms for any taxonomies for any posts is checking not only childrens, but its parent too … So check it please in the products …

    Hi,

The situation is a bit difficult to explain and there was a mistake on my part when describing how I would see normal behaviour.

Thanks for the explanation but the category(or any other) filter disappearing on the category page isn’t as much of an issue as the fact that it won’t reappear when returning to the shop page.

It’s not just a category that disappears from the filter on the a category page – the whole category filter is gone. For example if I visit the “BLUE” category it’s not just “BLUE” that disappears from the filter – the whole category filter is gone. Again, this wouldn’t be a problem if the filter would become available when returning to the shop page.

(These taxonomies have no children but they can be filtered among themselves. None of my categories can father another. Some products can be classified by multiple categories.)

I fixed this by linking the menu to filtered pages instead of category pages to prevent the filter from disappearing – but I won’t prevent the following situation:

When a customer clicks on a tag, on the product page, he visits the tag page. When he returns to the Shop page he can no longer see the tag filter.

    Best regards
