• Hello,
I seem to have an ongoing issue with unwanted hyperlinks and ads showing up at the top of my website: https://sealink.org/

Directly under the non-profit’s logo on the upper lefthand side. I’ve updated all plug-in’s (that corrected the issue the first time, they’ve since come back) but the hyperlink is still there. I’ve tried deactivating all plug-ins and the links are still there.

They appeared randomly out of nowhere, I hadn’t changed anything. I have no ads or plug-in ads throughout the entire site.

Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks!

There does seem to be a strange link in the header area

    check your header.php file
can you do a malware scan just in case?

Thank you so much Contentiskey for checking this out and working with me!

At the risk of sounding incredibly green, what should I be looking for in my header.php file that could be causing this and what should I delete or change there?

look for the link that I copied from your source code.
if it is an innocent link, you will easily find it.

if it is as malicious link, it might be less obvious and might be a malware issue.

use caution when editing your header.php template file.
be sure you have a backup.

thank you! i looked scoured through the header.php template file and there is no link like that one.

I just did a malware check and that came back negative.

    what do you think?

I am kind of new here, but Ii had constant trouble with thiss situation about three mounts ago. I went into the “Extensions” and “Add-On” directories and found a bunch of files (self installed” that were programs that provided a constant flow of the ads that were drivinng me nuts. I disabled all of them, then came back and removed them. reseting the browser each time. Along with “AdBlockPlus” running in the background, the noise some ads have gone away. There is one that slips past on an irregular basis and that one underlines ad links in text, and a quick stop at “Extensions” gets rid of the beastie. BTW I run FireFox….. It seems to be best in handling intruders.
