I tried to edit my 404 template (I use the Sela theme) but must have done something wrong as I now get a blank page. Is anyone able to copy and paste the full text that should appear in this template so that I can copy it back in?

    Thanks

Ok I have found the full text to paste back in and that works ok…but whenever I try to edit the text that appear on that error page it breaks it again. Any suggestions?!

Hi emmziekay – just a heads-up that if you edit the original theme files, you’ll lose all your changes every time you update the theme.

The best way to make changes to a theme is to use a child theme, so your tweaks won’t be overwritten when updating the theme. Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:

You can make a copy of the 404 file and place it in your child theme, and edit it to your liking.

This thread was marked resolved, did you still need any help with it or are you all set? If you still need help, could you let me know exactly what edits you’re making so I can have a look? Thanks!
