When I select the “Enable Wordfence Falcon Engine” radio button and click the “Save changes to the type of caching above” button, I get the dialog box as I should, but none of the links are clickable – as if there is a no-click shield over the box. This is how it appears (screenshot) https://screencast.com/t/65fLirDE. Obviously, I can’t click the “Download my .htaccess file” link to enable the button.

I am using the MH Newsdesk Lite theme with no customizations and don’t seem to have any plugins that could be causing this.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Might be a pop up blocker on your computer. I just tested and am able to click the links with no issues.

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. I’m sure it’s not an issue with pop-up blockers, I have another site (cdhtactical.com) that works just fine with my current Google Chrome setup. I also tried it with my Firefox setup as well with no joy. It seems to be related to my WP installation in some way. All I can imagine is that it has something to do with my theme – perhaps some sort of lightbox thing? I’m just grasping at straws. I really would like to use the Falcon engine. Can you suggest a workaround? Some manual update to a file on the site maybe? I’m a long-time programmer, so I’m comfy editing site files if that’s necessary.

    Thanks,
    Tim

The code to add is here:
    https://docs.wordfence.com/en/I_enabled_Falcon_Caching_and_my_site_errors_out._What_went_wrong%3F
Make sure it goes at the top of the htaccess file.

Thanks. I put this code in the .htaccess. Do I need to do anything else to get the Falcon engine started? Should I see the icon in the upper right of the performance settings page?

Yes. I think when I enabled manually, I had to select the button for Falcon, click the button to close the window to download the htaccess, and added the code.

That’s my problem. I can’t click the button to close the window to download the htaccess. The button is unclickable. So I guess I’ve got to come up with a different workaround. Any other suggestions?

Try enabling the javaScript console on the performance setup page, before enabling falcon. Look for any errors in red and report them here.

    Hi,
I’m sorry, but I don’t see anything about the javaScript console on the performance setup page (or any of the Wordfence pages.) Am I missing something?

Turn on the JavaScript console in your browser and then try to enable Falcon. Look for any errors in the console.

    Hope that helps!

Hahahaha! Thanks Brian. I don’t know what I was thinking. Anyway, I opened the Javascript console and tried to enable the Falcon engine with a similar result as before and no errors showing in the console. Here’s a screen shot: https://screencast.com/t/C6GC44qe3

    Thanks,

Something very similar here. Can’t click the “Enable Falcon after manually…” button. My box is also broken like yours IsItCoffeeYet.

    Hi HMSRE,

I’m using Chrome and Windows. It works fine on our other sites.

What theme are you using on your site? I can’t help but think it’s theme related. I’ve considered swapping my theme, but we have a pretty active site, so I’ll have to clone the site to test. Not enough hours in a day, yet. ??

    That’s odd. I am using the following…
    Theme: Enfold.
    Mac (Yosemite).
    FF & Safari (latest).

So I waited for a WF update to see if they found the bug but no luck. Still having the same issue with FF, Safari and Chrome (just tested on it with the javascript consule) and nothing. Broken and can’t click on the button. HELP PLEASE! I would really like to use it on our site.

Wondering if there’s a conflict with MODAL // Popup pluggins. I did have Fancybox one but deactivated and still have issue. So clueless.

@hmsre: Do you get the same extra white bars around the Falcon dialog box, shown in the screenshot links from IsItCoffeeYet, above?

It does look like a theme or plugin conflict, especially since you are both using different browsers. If you can disable any of your other plugins one at a time, just long enough to look at the Falcon settings again, you might be able to find the problem. (I know this might be difficult on busy sites, especially if you use any plugins don’t retain their settings.)

If you use any plugins that display dialog boxes or a “social locker”, those would be most likely.
