primary sidebar share space with logo?

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to allow my website’s sidebar to reach the top of the page, ie, for it to be in the same plane horizontally as my logo, and not start so far down the page when my logo header ends. let me know if this is possible! also, I’d like to make the sidebar smaller in width if possible.
