So, I number of my users are receiving a 403 code. I know its related to the security plugin because, when I deactivate and restore my .htaccss, there are no issues? So now, I am working to narrow down which rule to turn off?

I am wondering if its related to 5G rules and
“Block forbidden characters commonly used in exploitative attacks.”

Is there a log file someplace that tracks all this?

    Thanks

Hi msgliniewicz, you can check the following Host System Logs located at WP Security -> Filesystem Security -> Host System Logs.

In regards to where to start troubleshooting the issue I would start by deactivating all Firewall rules.

Is this resolved as I have the same issue when using ANY of the brute force protections. I successfully login but get 403 errors, no matter which of the brute force protections I use.

Any help would be most appreciated.

@blackshapes can you disable all your other plugins except this one. Then test some of the Brute Force features?

Done. In safari I get a 403 forbidden error. In firefox I get a 404. I cleared the browser cache both times in both cases. Mystery!

I’m not too worried – the honeypot, captcha and login lockouts will adequately protect against brute force – probably more for you guys to know. It isn’t the first (and im sure won’t be the last) plugin that doesn’t work with this fairly elaborate theme – If you have any other suggestions feel free to let me know and I’ll give them a go.

    TIA
    Ben

Interestingly, I just tried a couple of other “change wp-admin” plugins and none of them work. This points strongly to my theme. I’ll raise a ticket with my developer. Cheers.
