• Hi I am using NextGEN Gallery v 2.1.0 & Next GEN Plus v 1.1.3 with the WP theme X v4.0.1 and Cornerstone (Front end page builder) v 1.0.1

The Cornerstone page builder won’t load and the developers’ have come back with the following reply.

“As is the case with NextGEN, there are some conflicts we’re unable to directly resolve because of how the offending plugin is developed. Unfortunately, NextGEN modifies jQuery by loading an external version. This is both against WordPress best practices, and is known to cause many plugin conflicts. To prevent that from happening, their developers provide a constant you can use.

Try adding this to your wp-config.php file:

    define( ‘NGG_FIX_JQUERY’, false );

I have tried the config change but still not resolution.. can you advice a fix please

@scotbaston – NextGEN Gallery enqueues the jQuery bundled with WordPress core for much the same reason they claim we do not. Using external jQuery libraries has been known to cause issues with NextGEN Gallery as well as other plugins … and apparently themes with plugin functionality built-in.

With the exception of the Google API hosted version of jQuery that matches WordPress’ bundled version this function (fix_jquery()) shows we are enqueuing the WordPress version itself:

I’m trying to understand what you are saying..

Am i right in saying there shouldn’t be a problem as you are using the same version of jquery?

As things stand.. I have a plugin I love and a theme I love.. that refuse to work together.

Is there anything I can do about fixing this problem?

@scotbaston – We are not seeing reports of conflicts with the X theme and NextGEN Gallery specifically … this would be the first we are aware of (we have actually done some light testing with the X theme without issue).

I suspect more the “page builder” than the theme itself … have you tried not using the “page builder” component?

I’ve used both the gallery and X for awhile now.

The problem is purely with Cornerstone, which is the new front end editor for the X theme. I can still run the gallery and x theme, but can’t run the Cornerstone editor.

The X developers are also looking into this problem with the info you have provided above.

on the X forum, there is at least one other with the same issue as me.. so not just me that has the problem.

I’ll keep you informed of what the X forum mods find out. Also, if you find out the problem I will pass it on to the X developers

    Thanks

@scotbaston – Unfortunately “page builder” functionality is notorious for not parsing NextGEN Gallery inserted displays via the IGW correctly (there are a very few limited working models). For the most part, if you are using a “page builder”, you will be restricted to only using shortcodes for NextGEN Gallery going forward.

Thank you for that information.. I am ok with using the shortcodes for ‘page builder’ pages and using the inserted display for gallery pages.

currently the page builder fails to load at all with the gallery activated.

I’ll see what the X devs come back with

    Thanks for your help

Just for info. the Cornerstone/ X theme staff have found a fix and will be issuing a bug fix in the next release

@scotbaston – Great to read! Thanks or the updates!!

    – Cais.

I can advise that I am experiencing the exact same problem that ‘scotbaston’ has detailed above.
‘Cornerstone’ which is the front end editor of the ‘X Theme’ does not work when the NextGen plugin is activated.
When a solutions is found, please post it here.
    Thanks.

@jacksonville – Please start your own topic so we can try to help you with your specific issue on your specific site.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

PS: As to the X staff implying we load a different version of jQuery than what is bundled with WordPress, have them re-visit this statement as we use the jQuery library bundled with WordPress (with the exception of the exact same version from Google).

    (@scotbaston)

Just to state that problem was fixed by the Cornerstone/X Theme Devs as a hot fix and they have now released a new version which I have installed and my problem is still fixed

I suggest that anyone with the same problem downloads the latest versions of X & Cornerstone as this should fix the problem

ie this is not requiring a fix from Photocrati ??
