Unable to create directory

  • I have a problem and would be grateful if someone could find a solution.

    I cannot update WordPress or download plugins. I get this message

    “Unpacking the package…

    Could not create directory.”

    I’ve read about people with the same problem but none of the answers made any sense to me. I did not set up the website I am working on, I was made an admin. I’ve tried to download the plugin and ‘add new’ but I get the same message.

    I’ve just downloaded FileZilla but have no clue if this is the right option or how to connect FileZilla to the WordPress site. As I wasn’t the one to create this site I feel there is something I’m missing here.

    Any suggestions?
