    Hi:

When I first installed it, my table would always display the first column alphabetically. Now, since I tried changing the sort order in another column in the ‘edit’ mode, it no longer does this. I can still get the first column to sort alphabetically by clicking the column header on the actual page, but it no longer defaults to this. Can I get this feature back?

    My site is: https://nametrove.com

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

The automatic sorting for the first column should actually not have happened, i.e. it would only happen if another plugin interferes (by also loading a JavaScript library for sorting). I assume that this interference has now been cleared, which is good! ??

Now, from what I can see, the tables on your site (e.g. at https://nametrove.com/?page_id=1031 ) all have sorting turned off anyways.
Because of that, and as TablePress will show the table in the same order as it has been saved on the “Edit” screen, I suggest to simply bring it into the desired order on the “Edit” screen (by using the sorting function there, for the first column). Would that work?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi:

That may be the real problem then. When I click the first column (either up or down)in the ‘edit’ page it never returns an alphabetical list like the production page does. It consistently returns a list beginning with ‘lithest.com’ or ‘dryrub.com’ but never with ‘actionthemes.com’ like the production page properly does when the column is clicked.

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

that sounds strange. The first column of the table really only contains the domain names, without any extras (like HTML code for links) around it, right?
Or is there maybe some extra character (even a space could be it) in front of those “lithest.com” and “dryrub.com” texts?

    Regards,
    Tobias
