Why are some images with sizes at end broken & missing from Media Library?

  • I’ve got a weird situation going on here where most of the images seem to be showing up fine, but a few images are broken and don’t appear in the Media Library.

    Example broken/missing image:
    domain.com/wp-content/uploads/imagename-1024×930.jpg

    Within the /uploads/ directory, ALL thse images are found…
    imagename-1024×930.jpg
    imagename-940×198.jpg
    imagename-300×273.jpg
    imagename-150×150.jpg
    imagename.jpg

    So, I’m not sure why they can’t be found in the media library or why they are broken on the page.

    It’s only a few images. No idea what happened or why. There are some strange custom sizes there, so I am guessing it has something to do with Custom Sizes meta data being broken somehow.

  • It is most likely a plugin. Try deactivating all plugins one by one to see if the problem fixes itself.

    If that doesn’t work, try temporarily switching to a basic theme. If that fixes the problem, then there is a problem with your theme.
