When does WP site go live if replacing another web builder?

  • Apologies if this is a silly question or doesn’t make much sense, I’m very new to all this.

    So I have a website hosted and built on iPower but I would like to redesign it using wordpress as the web builder. I understand I have to install WordPress via ipower, as they will remain my server, and in the process select the domain name that they are already hosting for us to link to the new website.

    Is it at this point that the old version of the website will disappear? If avoidable, I don’t really want to have the website looking a mess for a day while I figure out my way around WordPress. Can the old ipower-built site remain live after I’ve installed www.remarpro.com via the server?

    I hope the question makes sense. Please excuse my massive knowledge gap in this area.

    Seems perhaps a question for ipower. Depending on your host company and your account, it often is possible to leave the old site in place while you build the new site. And then do the switchover when you are ready.
