• My blog isn’t working! People can’t view it and I can’t get in to add a new post, or see any of my old posts. I can log in, I just can’t add new content or see old content. This is the message that pops up:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/55/8944155/html/blog/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/backupwordpress.php on line 34

  • Since you can login, please deactivate the plugin BackUpWordpress. Make sure any server cache plugins are cleared also. Additionally, make sure to logout and refresh the page(s) in your browser.

If that does not work, using an FTP client such as FileZilla or your host provided file management tool(s), rename the folder /wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress to /wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress.old and again: Make sure any server cache plugins are cleared also. Additionally, make sure to logout and refresh the page(s) in your browser.

You may also want to review the requirements of this plugin with your webhost and discuss this issue with the plugin dev. at:

When I click to manage my plugins, it’s completely blank. The rest of it I have no idea how to do. I guess I’ll find someone to help me. I wish there was a customer support so someone at wordpress could actually help me.

Does anyone know if there’s a way for me to contact wordpress to get help, or am I just SOL if I can’t figure it out?

WordPress is open sourced software so you can’t contact them for this kind of support, but you can get help in this forum.

As you mentioned that you cannot see the plugins page, you should try the FTP method suggested previously, although I would recommend deleting the plugin entirely and then reinstalling it again from the repository.

I downloaded FileZilla but I have no idea how to go about renaming or deleting the file (where do I find it?), and I definitely don’t know anything about server cache plugins.

You will find plugins in the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. In there you’ll see a list of directories containing the various plugins.
