Index page fails to load

    I have installed WP at example.com/blog. I was trying to put at page at root folder( example.com/index.php) so that when the site is opened this blog page starts.

    i have tried the following code but fails to load

    <?php
    /* Short and sweet */
    define(‘WP_USE_THEMES’, true);
    require(‘.blog/wp-blog-header.php’);
    ?>

    can any one help me out please…..
