Unable to set up permalinks

  • I am almost in tears! When I look at my site their are no nice # signs indicating that my permalinks are working. I don’t want to mess up my site. I have looked and looked in the support docs and I’m more confused than ever. Now my .htaccess is not working. Please help me.

    Is your .htaccess file writable by the webserver?

    Had to start over with the blog. had a rogue .htaccess file in the webhost database. Had to delete it and create a new one. No rogue.

    Since I am not a programmer this is very new to me and fun. Sadistic fun.

    The # signs I see on the posts at the end of posts.
