• The only problem I’ve had with Customizer is the 1170 x 500 size images always get cut off or blown up so the whole image won’t show on the home page slider. I’ve read many comments and posts about this issue and I have tried everything. it is truly hit or miss. can you look at my site and tell me what is going wrong.

  • giving-5.jpg = 900 x 300
    welcome…png = 918 x 350
    Church…jpg = 1170 x 420
    Scars2…jpg = 1170 x 500

Looks more miss than hit to me!

    Fix your image sizes.

If you notice, those are the sizes which work as you can see the whole image on the slider. I had to adjust them variably to smaller sizes. It required a lot of back and forth of setting a size then checking the site, setting the size and checking the site. Very cumbersome. Needless to say your above post proves my point. If I set each one to the recommended 1170×500 then they would not fit and inevitably look horrible. When I posted this yesterday I had one of the sliders up to show what I meant, but not knowing when this would be replied to, I had to take down the 1170 x 500 “giving-5” slide because I didn’t want those visiting the site to think it was unprofessional. If you tell me when you will look at it, I can put the 1170×500 back up for that time so you can see . Bottom line is what you see looks ok despite the various sizes because it took a lot of back and forth playing with the different sizes.

I know what you mean the slider is annoying.

You expect the image will show exactly as it is being 1170×500 but it cuts off and looks terrible.

Also, when changing slider height it detaches from the header and leaves a white space (only unless zoom is 100/110%).

In 2015 it would be a great feature to link/upload a YouTube/Vimeo video and have it play automatically with option to mute and disable click-to-pause and hide loading symbol (I used code to make slider into video but it could be paused by clicking and displayed a loading symbol and ultimately could not use).

OK, how about replacing the Slider? I’ve used other sliders to replace the default slider (eg Layerslider)

But don’t see how any slider will cope with variable width/height images without some compromise.

Changing slider height detaches it from header.

There is a snippet that supposedly attaches the slider to header but it does not work.

This reduces responsiveness and looks terrible.

Right now my slider image is cut off despite being 1170×500. I would love to increase slider height to cover the whole “above-the-fold” but when I do, it only works up to 110% zoom in Chrome and at 125%+ (including mobile), detaches from header creating white space.

I have four 1170×500 images on mine and they all get cutoff by a few hundred pixels on the bottom.

If there is 1 thing I would suggest for Customizr – buff the slider:

    – Add height-change feature that remains attached to header

    – Upload/link video with options to mute + hide load symbol + disable pausing

    – disable annotations

Hi ibogo, thanks for the suggestion. I’m learning the ropes on WP and I have no idea what “buff the slider” means or the “add height-change feature that remains attached to the hear”.

    Thanks

I do not mean for you, only suggestion to devs :p

As pope says, my images are also 1170×500 and get cut off at the bottom significantly.

When we make the slider 600px for example, it looks way better but detaches from the header, which ends up looking quite poor on different screen sizes.
