Visual editor not working, can’t upload photos

I have four blogs. All of them are using wordpress 2.2 versions. One has problems.

The one I have problems with stopped allowing me to use the visual editor. No big deal. I turn it off and use the code editor. What’s more of a problem to me is that I can’t upload photos on this blog. I go to browse, choose a photo, press upload and the screen changes, as if the upload takes place but no photo.

This began on the first 2.2 upgrade. I read through everything and found that there were a few others who were having this problem but there seemed to be no resolution other than to stop using the visual editor.

The blog that this happens on is uploaded via fantastico. When it first started, I backed up my database and then reinstalled. I reinstalled my database. Before re-uploading and installing any plugins or themes I tried using the default theme and I was still unable to perform any of these actions. I do not back up anything except the default backups–no spam karma files or anything special.

I read about changing some code on fantastico installs but this has not changed anything. I tried re-uploading just the tinymce files but this did not help. I had hoped that whatever was wrong would fix itself with this newest upgrade but it didn’t.

Any other ideas? I can live with out the visual editor, but I REALLY hate not being able to upload photos without having to go through and separately ftp the photos.
