Em dash display in Firefox/WordPress at least
-
Somewhere in recent weeks Firefox/Mac has begun to mess up how some characters are displayed. At the least it happens in two WordPress installations on my site.
A specific example is how an em dash displays. Instead of the expected long dash, I see a temperature degree sign, followed by a copyright symbol.
See an example here: https://www.community-media.com/radioblog/?p=127
In Safari I see the em dash between APPROVED – Amendment.
In Firefox is see the small superscripted circle (degree sign) followed by a copyright symbol. If I look at the source code for the page I see “APPROVED – Amendment”
A second example involves apostrophe Capital A, which is displayed as a temperature degree sign, followed by a zero with stroke through it.
See an example here: https://www.community-media.com/radioblog/?p=118
Screen captures of both are here: https://www.community-media.com/ff_captures.jpg
I did go to about:config and reset all character encoding items to the defaults.
