facebook share button not displaying

    this has to be something simple but crazy! my facebook share button isn’t displaying. It is there, you can see with firebug, you can hover over where it should be (right next to google+, which displays), you can even click on the ‘dotted line’ outline and head on over to facebook. Just can’t see the facebook.png displaying on the website. I’ve checked that facebook.png is in the plugins folder by following the url in firebug on the server and the facebook.png file is in the folder.
    When hovering with firebug all it’s telling me is ‘Failed to load the given url’.
    I have updated wordpress to 4.2.1 and installed w3 total cache. I’m not sure at which point it broke, I didn’t think it had as I’d tested but customer has pointed out this morning it’s not working.
    Any ideas?

  • Can you link to a page displaying the issue? It’s impossible to guess without having a look.

    What browser are you using? It displays fine for me on Firefox and Chrome.

    firefox it’s not showing at all, chrome I’m getting a broken image icon. Same result with chrome on both phone and tablet. How very odd, now I’m suspecting a local issue.

    Thank you for your time in taking a look, I will keep digging around from this end.

    OMG!! my apologies Synved, one day you will laugh over this over a beer with a story about silly users!

    We have blocked facebook temporarily in our house due to wayward teenager – I’d completely forgotten! This means it’s a local issue for our client, the techie guy can sort that one out.

    Good to know it’s resolved.
