home page background color problem in safari

Strange issue – my white page background stops abruptly on my home page rather than extending to the bottom of the content. This only happens in Safari (as far as I’ve been able to tell) and only on the home page, the other pages have full length backgrounds.
Anyone have suggestions? In general, where should I look when CSS problems arise on the home page but not other pages?
