• I’m having a problem where entering a “&” ampersand into field text is getting output as the HTML code “&”

Is this a known issue, or is there some setting that controls this?

  • Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Can you explain why this is a problem? Such encoding of ampersands in HTML is necessary to prevent wrong escaping.

Ugh, my encoded ampersand got turned into an actual HTML ampersand… :-/

What I mean is that an “&” ampersand character in a text field is getting output to the page as the HTML encoded version. i.e. “&” becomes the text “& amp ; ” (no spaces, obviously).

What makes it more strange is that ampersands in column headers are being correctly preserved. It’s only ampersands in regular cells that are getting encoded.

Scratch that, my dev just told me it’s his javascript and not TablePress causing the issue…

Sorry to bother you, and thanks for the response ??

    Hi,

no problem, you are very welcome! Good to hear that this could be fixed so easily by your dev!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
