Sidebar widget link request

When I create a new post, it display’s in the sidebar widget under Recent Post but when you click it I get a ‘404 Not Found’ error instead – it does not take me to the post page. I don’t know PHP so does anyone have the patch to fix this error? Or is this even possible in WP?
