Beginner needs help with theme upload

  • Hi there…

    I feel really stupid asking this question but I am completely stumped as to where to find the wp-content/themes directory to upload a theme to. Please help! I’ve looked everywhere. I am using AN Hosting if that is relevant…

  • Start by going to the root directory of your hosting account. This might be public_html or maybe www. Have a look for WordPress.

    hey Vanessa! it’s that easy, all your themes should be uploaded right unto
    /wp-content/themes/

    and then it could be looking something like

    /wp-content/themes/my-theme
    /wp-content/themes/his-theme
    /wp-content/themes/her-theme

    and so on!

    I found public-html and www in file manager, but nothing happens when I click on them apart from being given the option to move/rename/delete/copy or change permissions on the folder.

    What should I do next? You have no idea how much I appreciate this…

    Synthspotting, thank you… but my question is where to find wp-content/themes/ ?? I can’t find it anywhere…

    Use the left hand window? Or click in a different way. It is not intuitive. The difference between selecting and clicking (or double clicking?)But for a new theme you need to use an ftp client.
