• Hey,

I am hoping someone can help me so I can help my clients new web company

Currently the site lives, and is live, at XYZ.com on MY server.

1 – My client is moving to a new web development/hosting company per my request. I have obligations that have limited my availability for providing support during the day.

2 – So I approached my client about finding someone to take over the site. I was proactive about this as opposed to leaving them in a lurch.

3 – They found a company and this company has had a lot of trouble transferring the site to GoDaddy where they want to host it.

4 – After they got a larger more robust account at GoDaddy – I went in and attached the database to the site in about 5 minutes after they uploaded everything.

HOWEVER – this is where they stand now – when they got the more robust hosting space at GoDaddy – they used their own name as their domain. “johndoe.com” for examples sake.

The wordpress site is broken – because it contains the clients domain XYZ.com in all the links (as it should) as opposed to johndoe.com which is totally unrelated.

The template shows up, the menus show up – the front page blog is broken (which seems like it’s a “wrong” domain issue) – and the menu links can’t be tested because they all resolve to the currently live site.

They are talking to GoDaddy – who I have no experience with – so can’t help them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in figuring out how the new web company can test the site at the new location BEFORE pointing the domain to it.
